Blocking it in

In this step we "saved space" for all of the things we wanted to put in our picture. The object here is not perfection it is establishing a foundation on which we can build and later refinish.

Preparing the canvas for paint.

In this step we are putting a base coat of paint on our canvas. We used paint mixed with mineral spirits and painted the whole canvas so that we weren't working on a blank white canvas.
